Mary Seacole was a nurse and businesses woman. She ran the British Hotel, which she set up in Crimea, to help poorly and recovering soldiers. She was so loved and affectionately names ‘Mother Seacole’.

Mary will share her experiences, including:
• Growing up in Jamaica and how her mother (who was interested in medicine) and her brother (who owned a hotel) influenced her
• Travelling to England – the good and not so good bits
• Her determination to help people - heading to Crimea
• Her famous hotel – why it was so wonderful, how it helped so many, being called ‘Mother Seacole’ and of course, the letters the soldiers wrote about her!

Each call is priced based on one class dialling in, with discounted rates for additional classes joining the same call.

Each term (just a few times a year we promise!) we send an email with relevant virtual visits to coincide with events like Black History Month, World Book Day and Science Week. If you'd be happy to receive this, please tick below.
